George Tice at Seventy

Quintessential New Jersey photographer George Tice to make rare public appearance

Best known for his large format black and white photographs, Mr. Tice will be in our Westwood store to meet you and discuss his life’s work in photography. He will also be available to personalize copies of his just released 18th book, "Seacoast Maine" and tell some of the stories behind the iconic images displayed in our retrospective show “George Tice At Seventy”. 35 original photographs, [including some never before seen large fomat limited edition platinum photographs] spanning the photographer's 50 plus year career constitute the gallery show. Many of George’s other 17 books of photographs [even some that have long been out of print] will be available at Gallery 270 for inscription by the artist that evening.

George Tice’s work is included in more than 80 major museum collections including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, as well as private collections. Some of his iconic New Jersey images form the scenic backdrop for Broadway’s “Jersey Boys.” He is also a master photographic printer, who was commissioned to print the Edward Steichen portfolio.

Anticipating Tice’s exhibition and visit to Gallery 270, founder Tom Gramegna enthused, "There is no greater living photographer than George Tice, whose iconic images are magical to see in person. Hosting him at Gallery 270 is a great honor for us, and a rare opportunity for our neighbors in Bergen County to meet this photographic genius.”
